From the aftermath of Mixed Reality Platforms, what can we say? A few technical hiccups, not least falling off the edge of the map so spectators were treated only to a view of virtual-chimmels flying up the screen, and a general feeling of confusion as people tried to figure just what it was we were doing.

Work on our Mixed Reality Platforms project, Virtual-Physical Gaming, is making headway. Codenamed Afterlife, the project puts both virtual and physical characters into a game of confusion. Collaborating to piece various clues together, they eventually discover an astonishing truth…
Afterlife uses the Half Life 2 Source engine to present a virtual representation of the game arena.
Using the built-in physics (powered by Havok) engine of Source, Afterlife immerses the player in a stunning, slightly unnerving environment.
