I have built more on the idea of the microphone simulacrum, and begun building prototype objects and applications. The original idea has been expanded to encompass a full 3D podium which the user will interact with.

Below is a pre-render to demonstrate the style of object and scene I will implement in the final simulacrum.

Initial Thoughts

The negotiated practice gives an open approach to researching, designing and building a project of our choice. Over the summer, I was very inspired by the work of PlayDo (http://cam.playdo.com) in developing games that interract with the user via a webcam. Using these games felt very strange as you were controlling an element without any physical interraction. I will look into this concept to develop my brief.

UPSU Branding

My work for UPSU continues, with my banner designs being adopted for the Union’s two new bars - Ignition and Illusion. I have also been commissioned to develop a new clothing brand identity for the Union.

University of Plymouth Students Union

The new union site is up, and has been by all accounts a great success. Around 70% of voters liked the new site, and it continues to grow. Since building the original design, I have since been involved in designing and branding areas of the site, including UPSU’s Union bars.
